Summer Analyst - Operations

THE INTERVIEWS WILL NOW BE HELD SOMETIME IN DECEMBER OR JANUARY, NOT 11/27/12. THE COMPANY WILL NOT INTERVIEW STUDENTS STUDYING ABROAD. INTERVIEWS WILL BE ONE-HOUR LONG. WHAT IS OPERATIONS? Operations is involved in the full spectrum of financial products from bonds and equity derivatives to swaps and options. The division also partners with almost every group throughout the firm. Traders execute financial transactions, but it is the Operations function that ensures all trades are settled as quickly and efficiently as possible. Operations also provides effective cash management and is responsible for ensuring the integrity of the balance sheet, the global integrity of client data, and full compliance monitoring of all transactions. Due to technological progress and globalization, Operations is evolving. Certain functions and processes have now been centralized to increase business efficiency and enhance the control environment. E-commerce is also changing the way we work. As more and more clients interface with dealer screens in their own offices, they need to be able to call Operations directly. WHAT TO EXPECT AS A SUMMER ANALYST IN OPERATIONS? The Barclays Summer Program is designed to provide summer analysts, who possess a strong interest in the Financial Services Industry and a commitment to Operations, with broad exposure to the Barclays businesses. This program consists of practical work assignments and various other learning opportunities throughout the summer. Through a variety of activities, summer analysts will have the opportunity to network with line professionals and with their peers. The goal of the summer program is to enable the summer analysts to achieve a solid understand of the strength and capabilities of our global platform, its businesses, and its culture. REQUIREMENTS * Minimum GPA of 3.2 WHAT DOES BARCLAYS LOOK FOR IN AN OPERATIONS ANALYST? * A variety of academic backgrounds, in particular business degrees. * Resourcefulness, team orientation, enthusiasm and an entrepreneurial spirit demonstrated through participation in extracurricular activities HOW DO I APPLY?
